help with ruined glassware!!!

Post by bjackson13 »

My chemistry class did a bouncy ball lab and left sodium silicate on the glassware. The white hazy residue will not scrub off. any suggestions?

Sodium silicate is soluble in water so should have been removed. The haze may be from another contaminant or possibly fine scrathes. Washing the glassware with a solvent like acetone may remove the contaminant
In Physical Chemistry experiments must be reproducible, they should fail the same way each time
