question need help with?

when methane is burned with oxygen the products are carbon dioxide and water. if you produce 36 grams of water and 44 grams of carbon dioxide from 16 grams of methane, how many grams of oxygen were need for the reaction?

You can solve this problem by using the conservation of mass law:
Sum of products masses = Sum of reagent masses
Therefore:
m(O2) = m(CO2) + m(H2O)-m(CH4)
