Need help PLEASE, Urgent

Post by GNkredible200 »

I am stuck on this problem and I can't seem to figure out what I am doing wrong! I am doing chem 104 hmwk.

The question is; What is the atomic mass of this element? What is its identity?

Isotope 1: (23.99amu): 78.99%
Isotope 2: (24.99amu): 10.00%
Isotope 3: (25.98amu): 11.01%

Anybody know how to solve this problem???

Thankx

The atomic mass is 24.31g and the element is magnesium.

Just multiply each mass by the percent and add it all up. That's your atomic mass, then just look up the element on the periodic table :)
