Need some help with a prelab

Post by Awexome »

I've got a prelab due tommorow (hey, I'm a procrastinator thanks to the Orange Box) and I'm having some trouble with a couple of the equations in it. I'm pretty sure I've learned how to do stuff like this in the past but right now I'm at a loss.

1. Balance the following equation: NH3 -> OH-

2. Write a balanced equation:

a. for the reaction of Na2CO3 (aq) with H3O+ (aq) to form carbonic acid (aq). Note that hydroxide is NOT formed in this reaction

b. and for the subsequent decomposition of carbonic acid to form liquid water and a gas (this part I got easily when I realized that it didn't even have to be balanced!)

Thanks for the help, and I guess this would be my first post so hello!
