SeO2 + H2O + H2SO4 -> Reddish Brown PPT??

Post by shibunu »

Hey, I am trying to figure out this equation. Can someone help me?

SeO2 + H2O + H2SO4 ------------> Reddish Brown PPT

This comes from the instructional inlet of a particular testing equipment.

They did not state down the complete equation and I need to know what the equation is.

From my experience, the reaction gives off white fumes that has a very strong smell. I suspect it might be SO2 but I can't be certain and I think the Reddish brown PPT might be Selenium. Can someone help me out?

I would really appreciate the help.

Thank you
