i am trying to balance the following equation:
C4H3NO+ C3H7O6P = C7H5NO4 + PO43- + 2H2O
but keep getting the answer that it is impossible, why is that?
i tried it as:
C4H3NO+ C3H7O6P + H2O = C7H5NO4 + PO43- + 7H+ but wanted to check if its correct

i am getting the equation from a website, but i cannot post the link here also

What are your reactants. With sum formula there are thousends of possibilites. Write half structure formulas. And if you develop an equation make sure the number of atoms left side and right side are the same. This is also valid for the charges.

HY there i can see your post and i must say

C5H4N-CHO + HNO3 + H2O → C5H3N(CO2H) + NO

In this reaction:

C5H4N-CHO represents 2-aminoquinoline, which reacts with nitric acid (HNO3) and water (H2O).
The product formed is C5H3N(CO2H), which is quinolinate (quinolinic acid).
A molecule of nitrogen monoxide (NO) is also produced as a byproduct.

Thanks and regards

Your equation is not balanced.

C5H4N-CHO + HNO3 + H2O → C5H3N(CO2H) + NO
H leftside 8 right side 4
O leftside 5 right side 3
The quinolinic acid formula is also wrong. It has two COOH groups.

The same with 2 Aminoquinoline
