MoS2 + H2O

Post by xdeano »

Here is the question.

Shooters use powder or luquid Molybdenum disulfide (MoS2) on bullets to reduce drag. When this heated from the shot being fired it impregnates the moly into the barrel. When not in use does the moly and humidity in the air cause a break down to cause a barrel to rust faster.

Also I was reading on the Molybdenum disulfide MSDS sheet that it reacts activily with Hydrogen Peroxide. So I tried it. I dropped two coated bullets into a 3% H2O2 sulution. They started bubbling after about 3 minutes. what does this produce?

Thanks guys
