What is the correct reactant in this equation?

Post by aseret »

Hi! So I m working in a lab project, i which I did the following step. Sodium hydrogen phosphate (Na2HPO4) is acidified with nitric aid (HNO3) and later reacts with zirconyl chloride (ZOCl2).

I wrote the following reaction:

2H3PO4 + ZrOCl2 -> Zr(HPO4)2 +2HCl + H2O

Yet, my teacher said its wrong because phosphoric acid (H3PO4) is not used.

So my question is: What is the correct equation for this project?
I need ONE main equation that covers all aspects. Does anyone know how to do this?
I am really confused and I appreciate all your help :)

You have to implement NaH2PO4 + HNO3 => H3PO4 + NaNO3.

Try to substitute this in your equation by yourself.
