Write the products for this reaction of an amino acid with the strong acid, Hydrochloric acid:
H₂N^-CH₂^-CH₂^-COOH + HCl = ?

I think its:
H₂N^-CH₂^-CH₂^-COOH + HCl = NH₄Cl + CH₃CH₂COOH

But with a second look I thought maybe it's:
H₂N^-CH₂^-CH₂^-COOH + HCl = H₃NCH₂CH₂COOH+ + Cl-

Help finding the products and an explanation would be nice!
