I haven't balanced an equation for awhile and am in need of a little help.

C₁₀H₁₀Fe+(CH₃CO)₂O = C₁₂H₁₂FeO+C₁₄H₁₄FeO₂

Don't know if its pertinent or not, but the reaction takes place in the presence of H₃PO₄ and is an electrophilic aromatic substitution.

Which suggests water is a biproduct.

Use aliasing :

FeH2X2 + Y2O = FeHX2Y + FeX2Y2 + H2O

But:

2 FeH2X2 + Y2O = 2 FeHX2Y + H2O

And:

FeH2X2 + Y2O = FeX2Y2 + H2O

Thus we have two competing reactions, which may be balanced indefinitely.
