Please help...

Post by liss3003 »

can someone please help me write a balanced equation for this...

A 0.500g sample of sodium sulfate (Na2SO4) and a 0.500g sample of aluminium sulfate (Al2(SO4)3) were dissolved in a volume of water and excess barium chloride added to precipitate barium sulfate. What was the total mass of barium sulfate produced?

i just need help with the equation....
thanks

For this problem it's better to use full ionic equation:
Ba+2 + SO4-2 = BaSO4(s)

1) 4BaCrO4 = 2 Ba(CrO2)2 + 2 BaO + 3 O2 (thermal decomposition)
2) Ba(CrO2)2 + 2 HCl + 2 H2O = 2 Cr(OH)3 + BaCl2

Someone tells me that we can produce Cr(OH)3 from BaCrO4 by the reaction of BaCrO4 and HCl to make Cr2O7 2- then we can make Cr(OH)3 but I don't know to write the reaction, can you help me :D
