Functional group and intermolecular forces

Ugh! I don't understand what my instructor wants! Here is the homework assignment:
Choose 2 functional groups and find a household product that contains the functional groups that are chosen. Explain the action of the product in terms of the intermolecular forces that these groups impart to the molecule.
Can someone do this for me?
