1. Write an equation for the process that corresponds to the electron affinity of the Mg^+ ion.
Express your answer as a chemical equation. Identify all of the phases in your answer.

2. Consider the A2X4 molecule depicted below, where A and X are elements. The A-A bond length in this molecule is d1, and the four A-X bond lengths are each d2.

In terms of d1 and d2, how could you define the bonding atomic radius of atom A?
Express your answer in terms of the variables d1 and d2.
