Help with Net Ionic Equation

Post by sundevil63 »

Hi,

I need help putting the following into a net ionic equation:

Cu(s) + 4HNO3(aq) → Cu(NO3)2(aq) + 2NO2(g) + 2H2O(l)

I am not sure how to do subscripts on this forum. So this is solid copper added to nitric acid which yields copper sulfite, nitrogen dioxide and water.

Is this already in net form?

Thanks for your help.

Here is a useful post about writing net ionic equations
For your reaction net ionic equation will be:
Cu + 4 H+ + 2 NO3- = Cu2+ + 2 NO2 + 2 H2O
