Soap scum - this is about chemistry

Post by hamil »

Scop scum collects on the inside of clear shower doors. I have tried everything in the store to remove it.

Is there a harsh chemical such as acetone, sulfuric acid, hydrochloric acid, lye or such that will react with the chemical composition of soap scum to dissolve it? Soap used to be made up of grease and lye but I am not sure now, but it seems there should be something that will work.
