balance eqution

Post by KABELMOL »

I would like your assistance in balancing the following equation.
C22H18O4+C2H6O2+CH3OH=C7H8O+(C10H8O4)n

So it make no sense, write structure formula or names of compounds. Conditions, etc.

My question is whether or not the equation provided can actually be balanced.

Again this can not be answered with this Information. Tell the educts and the products.
C22H18O4 =?
C2H6O2 = ethylenglycole ?
CH3OH= methanole
C7H8O = ?
(C10H8O4)n =?

I’m tying to recycle PET plastic via selective dissolution-precipitation.
In the dissolution reaction PET breaks into its monomers ethylene glycol and terephthalate acid in the presence of Di benzoyl terephthalate.

The second reaction is precipitation. The PET monomers are precipitated in the presence of methanol and we get PET polymer as products but I’m not really sure what other product is

The first part maybe may work. PET breaks in terepthalic acid and ethylenglycol. It is not Di-Benzoylterephthalate it is Di- benzylterephthalate what is used as additive

The second one works different, you have to convert terepthalic acid with methanole to dimethylterephthalate. This compound can react later with Ethyleneglycol to new PET and gaining again methanole. Cycle process.
