Ammonium perchlorate or ammonium nitrate?

Post by Mpurdin »

Hello!

I was wondering why you would use ammonium perchlorate instead of ammonium nitrate as rocket propellant fuel. I checked this website and other forums but I´m not sure: ammoniumperchlorat
I hope you can help me!
Thank you

Ammoniumnitrate is hygroscopic. It gets wet over time. So its preffered to use a dry salt.
The perchlorate ist more robust to it.
