What is C2H6S2 ? Ethandithiol or Dimethyldisulfide?

In both cases, oxidation of the sulphur would take place.

Probably asulfonic acid R-SO3H or the sodium salt of it will be formed.

Hello Thanks for your help and response.
C2H6S2 (or [CH3]2S2 is DMDS
Somewhere in my manual (for Odor control), I have this reaction:-
(CH3)2S2 + 5NaClO + H2O = 2CH3SO3 . Na + 3NaCl + 2H2O

Is this a balanced equation?
Thank you for any assistance on this matter.

No it should be

(CH3)2S2 + 5NaClO + H2O => 2CH3SO3H + 5 NaCl
