Chemical Equation

Post by halo19 »

Hi,

Can someone provide help with the following question:

Explain with chemical equations what happens to the pH of water containing Fe(H2O)6+2 when exposed to O2 and the iron is oxidized to Fe3+

Thank you!

The pH will go down because the oxidation of Iron will bond OH-.

Fe(H2O)6+2 => FeOH(H2O)5+2 + H+ + e-
