Post by Georgiou »

Is possible the reaction between superoxide free radical and the hydroxyl free radical?

Radicals can react each other, if the product is more stable.

This is the general rule, as every free radical contains one unpaired electron.

However, my question is more specific. It is about these two particular radicals coming together:

O2- + OH =

Based on the unpaired electron general rule, the expected product is HO3-. Is this product possible and stable? Can there exist other products?

I think it will decompose by releasing oxygen.
