Synthesis Reaction

Post by lopez2j »

I am trying to make 4-bromo-n n-dimethylaniline from 4-bromoaniline. However, I am having a tough time trying to find a proper procedure online. I was thinking that perhaps reacting 4-bromoaniline with methyl iodide would potentially give me my desired product using only two equivalents of methyl iodide from stopping the overall reaction from giving me a quaternary amine. I need to make 2 milimoles of my product, so I also need a balanced equation as to how much of each reactant I would need. If someone could please help me out I would greatly appreciate it!

Probably one of the described methods will work.
