Ethanol + amino ethane acid

Post by carlos3144 »

What comes out when mixing
CH3CH2OH + NH3COOH = ?

I thought that It'd be starting with CH3CH2COOH + something, but I'm not sure.

I ain't good with these kind of reactions.
Would be glad, if somebody would help!

First the formula of Amino ethane acid is NH2-CH2-COOH.
With ethanol CH3CH2OH it can react to an ester.

NH2-CH2-COOH + CH3CH2OH => NH2-CH2-COO-CH2CH3 + H2O

But if you mean NH2COOH Carbamic acid, then the reaction goes in this way,

NH2COOH + CH3CH2OH => CH3CH3NH2 +CO2
