why are different forms to solve chemical equations?
Example:
Form 1:
NiS + HNO3 = NiNO3 + HS
Form 2:
NiS + 4 HNO3 = Ni(NO3)3 + NO + S + 2 H2O

The first equation is wrong
It shoud be NiS + 2 HNO3 = Ni(NO3)2 + H2S
The second is ok.
The difference between the equations is because depending of the concentration of nitric acid. It works as oxidiser in highrt concentration. Ni2+ goes to Ni3+. and Sulfide will go to sulphur. Nitrate itself is reduced to Nitrogenoxide.
