Code: Select all

FeCrO4+KOH = ?
The potassium does not react; it's there to make the solution alkaline.

In Alkaline conditions the iron will be oxidized as follows.

Code: Select all

3 Fe{2+} (aq) + CrO4{2-} (aq) + 4 H2O (l) = Cr(OH)3 (s) + 3 Fe{3+} (aq) + 5 OH{-} (aq)
Or...

Code: Select all

9 FeCrO4 + 12 H2O = 5 Fe(OH)3 + 3 Cr(OH)3 + 2 Fe2(CrO4)3
