tommorow i have to do a lab with antacid and water. a question is how many moles of CO2 is produced when i have 2 g sodium hydrogen carbonate, i think i need to find the theoretical yeild, but to do that i need to balance the equation, and i do not know the other products
NaHCO3+H2O= CO2 ANDD??? does anyone know what the other products are?
Hey the balanced reaction would be
NaHCO3 + H2O = H2CO3 + NaOH
where H2CO3 further decomposes to CO2 and H2O so overall reaction looks sumting like
NaHCO3 + H2O = H2O + CO2 + NaOH

And your main part of the question, you see that mole ratio of NaHCO3 and CO2 is 1 : 1 which means same number of moles of both molecules.
Moles of NaHCO3 = 2gm / 84.01 gm/mol
= 0.0238 moles of NaHCO3
