Gas Volumes

Post by lorna6 »

Hi,
I'm really stuck and need to design an experiment which will allow me to measure the volume of a gas. I am trying to determine which of these equations is correct for the decomposition on heating for Copper Carbonate (CuCO3):

Equation1: 2CuCO3(s) -> Cu2O(s) + 2CO2(g) + 1/2 O2(g)

Equation2: CuCO3(s) -> CuO(s) + CO2(g)

Any help on this would be greatly appreciated asap
Thanks
