Balancing Equations Question
Why is Ba(NO3)2 + Cr2(SO4)3 yield BaSO4 + Cr(NO3)2 not an equation one can balance?
I think I have found your problem...
For some reason you had Cr as +3 on the reactans side, and has Cr+2 on the product side, if the right equation was with Cr+3 that's the answer.
3 Ba(NO3)2 + Cr2(SO4)3 = 3 BaSO4 + 2 Cr(NO3)3
or with Cr +2
Ba(NO3)2 + Cr(SO4) = BaSO4 + Cr(NO3)2
Thank you for your reply, I had looked at that last night when looking at the double replacement section of the text. Must be a textbook error in the brand new text! Thanks a bunch!
