Hello,
I was wondering if anyone could help me in writing a chemical equation for aspirin + NaOH.
The aspirin equation is as follows:
C7H6O3 + C4H6O3 ------------------> C8H8O4 + C2H4O2
salicylic acid acetic anhydride acetylsalicylic acid acetic acid
Could someone please tell me exactly what is going on in the resulting reaction.
Thank-you and thanks for reading.
