The reaction between Fe(NO3)2 and NH4NO2..... help?

Post by Watchtower41 »

Help! My homework question is to write the molecular equation for the reaction between Fe(NO3)2 and NH4NO2. But I can't even set up the equation! I thought the equation would be Fe(NO3)2 + NH4NO2 = Fe(NO2)3 + NH4NO3 but that isn't even balanceable! Help! This is urgent! By the way thank you very much.

I am not sure for 100%, but that's what I was able to come up with:

Code: Select all

Fe(NO3)2 + NH4NO2 + 2 HNO3 = Fe(NO3)3 + NH4NO3 + NO + H2O
