Chemistry Homework! Help me with an equation?

Post by Jasminereah »

Question:
I have to show how with water H2S acts as an acid.
However, I'm not even sure what product this would form?
I was thinking perhaps H2SO4 but I cannot work out how that would balance?
Please help! :(

H2S is a very weak acid, so it will ionize in water
H2S + H2O = H3O(+) + SH(-)

The reaction is reversible.
Remember safety first! Check MSDS and consult with professionals before performing risky experiments.
