pH of combined chemicals

I’m struggling figuring out how the water in this affects the pH levels. Can someone please explain the effects. Also what would be the expected total pH?

KMnO₄ 114 grams +
NaOH 360 grams +
H2O 1 gallon

1 gal = 3,78 l
360 g NaOH/3.78 l = 95,23 g/ l = 2,3 mol/l
pH = 14,36 what means high alcaline solution.
Permanganate has no influence.

I thought pH of sodium hydroxide was 14 at most. How does it go up in 1 gallon of water? And potassium perm at a pH of 7 does effect the solution?

pH is defind as negative logarithm of activity of hydrogen ions.
The pOH is the same of hydroxide ions.

pH of NaOH is 14 if the Concentration is 1 mol/l

You have 2,3 mol/ l so it's higher,

As I wrote Permanganate has no influence of pH.

Actually the reaction of the equation is quite difficult. Thank you for sharing the recipe. Easy to find out accurate results

There is nothing difficult. Its only a dissolving of NaOH and KMnO4 in water. The rest is already said.

Depending on the chemicals involved, their effects on pH may be additive or not. For example, if you mix a strong acid with a strong base, the resulting pH will be determined by the excess of either the acid or the base.
