chemical equilibrium

Post by vxsaty »

Could someone explain to me what it means to add protons to a system?
I have a potassium dichromate solution and hydrochloric acid is added.
I need the net ion equation.

To add protons in chemistry means to acidify the solution, to add acid.

Dichromate and chromate are in Equilibrium

Cr2O7 2- + H2O <=> 2 H+ + 2 CrO4 2-
