Who told this. Chlorine doent remove anything. It kills bugs and virus, but the dead animals still existing. There is no removement. For that you need filtration over active carbon.

Chlorine also known as Cl is a yellow green gas at room temperature. Chlorine is mostly used for the purification of water. Chlorine gas is passed from the water in the water purification method. It is used to kill bacteria and other microbes from drinking water supplies. It does not remain in the body, due to its reactivity.
Chlorine kills pathogens such as bacteria and viruses by breaking the chemical bonds in their molecules. Disinfectants that are used for this purpose consist of chlorine compounds. Hence chlorine prevents the growth of bacteria or viruses in the reserves of water bodies.
