I have to stop the ozonation of the wastewater with sodium thiosulfate. I am asking for a balance:

O3 + Na2S2O3 = ?

Thank you kindly.

is this the reaction to be balanced?
Na2S2O3 + O3 = SO3 + Na2O2 📖

balanced reaction:
3 Na2S2O3 + 5 O3→6SO3 + 3 Na2O2 📖

However, please wait for confirmation from someone more experienced than me. :lol:

Please dont write products if you don't know what is going on.

Thiosulfat will be go to sulfate

S2O3 2- + 10 OH- => 2 SO4 2- + 5 H2O + 8 e-

Ozon will be to normal oxygen

O3 + H2O + 2 e- => O2 + 2 OH-

Thank you very much :)))) Can you help me and write the equation in nonionic form?

Na2S2O3+O3+?=Na2SO4+ O2+?

I think with the given equations you can develop by yourself. Add both equations so that the electrons will be erased,.

Thiosulfat will be go to sulfate

S2O3 2- + 10 OH- => 2 SO4 2- + 5 H2O + 8 e-

Ozon will be to normal oxygen

O3 + H2O + 2 e- => O2 + 2 OH-
Second equation multiply by 4
4 O3 + 4 H2O + 8 e- => 4 O2 + 8 OH-

Addition
S2O3 2- + 10 OH- +4 O3 + 4 H2O + 8 e- => 2 SO4 2- + 5 H2O + 8 e- + 4 O2 + 8 OH-

Simplefy
S2O3 2- + 2 OH- + 4 O3 => 2 SO4 2- + H2O + 4 O2

Add Na+

Na2S2O3 + 2 NaOH + 4 O3 => 2 Na2SO4 + H2O + 4 O2

Finished

O3 + Na2S2O3
From this equation, the thiosulphate from sodium thiosulphate (Na2S203) will go to sulfate.
S2O3 2- + 10 OH- → 2 SO4 2- + 5 H2O + 8 e-
The ozone in the equation (O3) will be converted to normal Oxygen O2
4 (O3 + H20 + 2 e- → O2 + 2 OH-)
By adding both these equations. We get:
S2O3 2- + 10 OH- + 4 O3 + 4 H2O + 8 e- → 2 SO4 2- + 5 H2O + 8 e- + 4 O2 + 8 OH-
Further simplification would be:
S2O3 2- + 2 OH- + 4 O3 → 2 SO4 2- + H2O + 4 O2
After the addition of sodium, the products are sodium sulfate, water, and Oxygen.
The final balanced equation is:
Na2S2O3 + 2 NaOH + 4 O3 → 2 Na2SO4 + H2O + 4 O2
