Sodium Metabisulfite (E223)

Post by NICc »

Hi all,

I hope you intelligent bunch can help me with a question about the preservative Sodium Metabisulfite (E223). I am trying to buy natural wholesale food stock. Sometimes the product is described as being 100% natural with no added preservatives, but then when I read the ingredients I see Sodium Metabisulfite (E223) listed as a preservative. Am I correct in thinking that the product should not be classed as natural? From what I can see online it is a man-made substance.

Thanks.
