Describe the experiment. What do you do with the penny.

When the Acetic acid and Salt react they form Weak Hydrochloric acid which dissolves the Blue-Green Copper hydroxide leaving the New copper, vinegar is about 4-5% Acetic acid.
1. 2 CH3COOH + 2 NaCl = 2 HCl + 2 NaCH3COO
2. 2 HCl + Cu(OH)2 = 2 H2O & 2 CuCl
1. 2 CH3COOH + 2 NaCl = 2 HCl + 2 NaCH3COO
2. 2 HCl + Cu(OH)2 = 2 H2O & 2 CuCl

That will do acetic acid by its own. Acetic acid is not able to create hydrochloric. Its to weak.
Cu(OH)2 + 2 CH3COOH => Cu(CH3COO)2 + 2 H2O
Chloride ion can be exchanged by the acetate
Cu(CH3COO)2 + 2 NaCl => CuCl2 + 2 CH3COONa
Cu(OH)2 + 2 CH3COOH => Cu(CH3COO)2 + 2 H2O
Chloride ion can be exchanged by the acetate
Cu(CH3COO)2 + 2 NaCl => CuCl2 + 2 CH3COONa
