Fehlings test with pentanal

Post by Jula »

I have to write down the reaction equation of the Fehlings test done with pentanal, but I'm not really sure how to do it. C5H10O + CuSo4NaOH was my idea, but it doesn't seem to be right. Id be super grateful if someone could help me :)

I would write down the redox reaction from Cu 2+ to Cu2O and from RCHO to RCOO-
First to mentioned the tatratic alcaline complex with copper.

R is the alkyl group. In your case Butyl.
