HELP out:)

Post by eloinatimbal »

solid cobalt(III)iodide reacts with oxygen to produce solid cobalt(III)oxide and oxygen diiodide gas.
* how would you write this equation?
* would you consider this single or double replacement?
* is this reaction even possible? I'm so confuse why the reactant side has only one oxygen and on the product side: two oxygen appeared:O
* can this equation be balanced?

thanks guys

What is oxygen diiodide. Do you mean diiodine oxid I2O
2 CoI3 + 3 O2 => Co2O3 + 3 I2O

That's my question too. Unfortunately my homework says "oxygen diiodide" for some reason and it just didn't seem right hearing it XD. thanks for your output!
