Redox reactions: Metal displacements

In the first case(8.29), Zn is oxidized and is reducing agent(reductant) and Cu is reduced and is oxidizing agent (oxidant).
In the second case(8.30), Ca is oxidized and is reducing agent (reductant) and V is reduced and is oxidizing agent (oxidant).
In the third case(8.31), Mg is oxidized and is reducing agent and Ti is reduced and is oxidizing agent (oxidant).

In the fourth case, (8.32), Al is oxidized and is reducing agent (reductant) and Cr is reduced and is oxidizing agent (oxidant).



But i don't understand what is the meaning of highlighted paragraph in the aforesaid image?

Hello,

I dont see a image icon. Only the word image, this has no function.

Hello,
I am presenting full question in this post. I don't understand what is the meaning of highlighted paragraph in the below image? For example, in the first case (8.29), Cu is reducing metal. So how it can be better reducing agent than Zn(reducing agent)?

No, the reducing metal is the reducer or called reducing agent. In first case its Zinc. Zinc lose more easier electrons to go to Zn 2+ as copper it does.
That is meant in the highlighted chapter.
