Basic Lead Acid question

Post by Socrates Johnson »

I am trying to run calculations...

I have PbO (which contains ~20% Pure Pb), so PbO/Pb and I'm trying to determine how much PbSO4 is being produced from the PbO/Pb.

I know that the basic balanced equation is

PbO + H2SO4 = H2O + PbSO4

but in realistic terms its more like

PbO + Pb2+ + H2SO4 = H2O + PbSO4 + PbO + Pb2+

All the H2SO4 I am adding will be consumed and there is ~9% of Pure Pb left in the mix.

How would one determine the ratio of of Pb to PbO?
