Why does my acetone inflate?

Post by mchlbrmn »

Why does my acetone inflate? I'm in a biology lab and we have a 4L jug of acetone under the fume hood that's never used. Over time (months) pressure builds up and inflates the plastic container. Why? Is there a chemical change going on? Will we all die horribly?
