Why not to use balancer?

Re: Difficulty balancing a redox equation to find a coeffici

The following redox equation takes place after platinum is placed in aqua regia solution (mixture of HCl and HNO3). Pt +Cl {-} + NO3 {-} ---> PtCl6{2-} + NO When it is balanced, what is the coefficient on the Cl{-}? You should not forget acidic environment: 3 Pt + 18 Cl{-} + 4 NO3...

Re: Balance equation

Is it possible to balance this equation? BF3(g) + H2O(l) = HF(aq) + H2BO3(aq) If not, can you tell me what is wrong with the problem and why it cant be balance. Thank you Boric acid is wrong, it should be H3BO3: BF3(g) + H2O(l) = HF(aq) + H3BO3(aq) Then you can use balancer: http://www.webqc.org/ba...

NH4 is a mistake. It should be NH3.
Then it is easy to balance:

Code: Select all

CS2 + 2 NH3 = H2S + NH4SCN

CuO + HCl = CuCl + H2O

if yes, help me to balance.
if no, why not?
It is not correct. Should be CuCl2 instead of CuCl:

Code: Select all

CuO + 2 HCl = CuCl2 + H2O

This one is impossible to balance.

You probably have Na2O2 instead of Na2O:

Code: Select all

2 Na2O2 + 2 H2O = 4 NaOH + O2
Hope this helps.

Re: Balancing Chemical Equations

sweetcherie wrote:HNO3+Cu+O2 ---> Cu(NO3)2+H2O+NO2

How can this be balanced when the left side doesn't have an NO2 compound?
There should be no O2 on the left:

Code: Select all

4 HNO3 + Cu = Cu(NO3)2 + 2 H2O + 2 NO2

C7H6O3 + CH3(OH) = C6H4(OH)COOCH3 + H2O
... and now it is balanced!

This one cannot be balanced.
You probably wanted to balance this one:
CH3CH2COOH + O2 = CO2 + H2O
Try it here: http://www.webqc.org/balance.php :)
