Re: Aqueous solution in both sulfate ion and chromate ion

Answers

(a)[Pb²⁺] = 1.6 ⨯ 10⁻⁸ ÷ 0.10 =1.6⁻⁷

(b)[Pb²⁺] = 1.7 ⨯ 10⁻¹⁴ ÷ 0.10 = 1.7 ⨯ 10⁻¹³

(c)PbCrO₄ will precipitate first.

(d) CrO₄²⁻ = 1.7 ⨯ 10⁻¹⁴ ÷ 1.6 ⨯ 10⁻⁸ = 1.1 ⨯ 10⁻⁶

Re: Precipitation reactions

Your answer to question (b) is 1, 2 and 3 or only 3?
In my opinion, the formation of solid AgCl depends upon insolubility of AgCl, the temperature and the solubility product expression and \(K_{sp}\)

Re: Predict which of the following compound will dissolve in the diluted HNO₃ but not in H₂O

Author said MgF2 not CuI will dissolve in dilute HNO_3 but not in H_2O . You didn't say MgF_2 , MnS will also dissolve in dilute HNO_3 but not in H_2O Yes, both MgF_2 and MnS contain anions of weak acids. - MgF_2 contains the fluoride ion ( F^- ) which is the conjugate base of hydrofluoric acid ( HF...

Aqueous solution in both sulfate ion and chromate ion

An aqueous solution is 0.10 M in both sulfate ion and chromate ion. Powdered lead nitrate(Ⅱ) is slowly dissolved in the well-stirred solution. (Assume no volume change). (a) What is the concentration of Pb²⁺ when PbSO₄ first start to precipitate? (b)What is the concentration of Pb²⁺ when PbCrO₄ firs...

Computing cell potentials

The standard reduction potential for the reaction [Co(H_2O)_6]^3+(aq) + e^- \to [Co(H_2O)_6]^2+ (aq) is about 1.8 V. The standard reduction potential for the reaction [Co(NH_3)_6]^3+(aq) + e^- \to [Co(NH_3)_6]^2+ (aq) is + 0.1 V. Compute the cell potentials to show whether the complex ions, [Co(H_2O...

Re: Redox reaction

The balanced chemical equation for the reaction is: 6 Fe^{+2} + Cr_2O_7^{-2} + 14 H^+ \rightarrow 6 Fe^{+3} + 2 Cr^{+3} + 7 H_2O From the equation, we can see that 6 moles of Fe^{2+} react with 1 mole of Cr_2O_7^{2-} . Therefore, the number of moles of Fe^{2+} in the sample is: n(Fe^{2+}) = \frac{0....

Redox reaction

Iron(II) can be oxidized to iron(III) by dichromate ion, which is reduced to chromium(III) in acid solution. A 2.5000-g sample of iron ore is dissolved and the iron converted into iron(II). Exactly 19.17 mL of 0.0100 M Na_2Cr_2O_7 is required in the titration. What percentage of the ore sample was i...

Re: E° for Ti⁰ ⇌ Ti³⁺ + 3 e⁻

The table in your link says Ti³⁺ + 3 e⁻ ⇌ Ti⁰ E° = -1.208 V

Reverse it for oxidation of Titanium metal Ti⁰ ⇌ Ti³⁺ + 3 e⁻ E° = +1.208 V
