[N2H5]HSO4 + NaOH = N2H4 + H2O + NaHSO4 N2H4 + H2O → [N2H5](+) + OH(−) So my speculation is that adding Hydrazine (pure and not used to make the Hydrazine sulfate, and do use a different reaction vessel) to an aqueous NaHSO4 should produce the same reaction and purple color (and, by the way, thi...

A Conditioned point of Disagreement

If one dripped strong HNO3 on anhydrous CaCl2, as the reaction with just water due to the exothermic nature of the reaction (the solvation enthalpy of the calcium ion is much greater than the lattice energy) is reported, upon rapid heating, to release some HCl vapors (see p. 162 of "Concise Enc...

Try a different process and compare Gold particle sizes. Two different routes would include using SO2 and H2C2O4.

OK, you may not have a sulfide. Test by adding an acid. If you smell rotten eggs (H2S), you have a sulfide. If not, use a stronger acid and heat. If still no smell, it is most likely not a sulfide.

Also, you may want to disclose on what (cloth, metal, ... more details the better) the coating is on.

Hi:

Interestingly, one can find Pt, Pt-Au and Pt-rhodium alloys, and recently even iridium employed in the production of specialty glass. See full article at www.platinummetalsreview.com/article/54/3/186-191/ and reference links there-in.

Good luck.

Depending on where you live, you may be able to secure powdered Slaked Lime or Hydrated Lime, formula Ca(OH)2, for around a dollar per pound. It is usually used chiefly in mortars, plasters, and cements. Caution, Slaked Lime is a stronger base than NaHCO3, but less soluble in water. However, in high...

Actually, research is not the issue. See as a single example "Clean, cheap hydrogen production from water using cobalt catalyst", Link: http://arstechnica.com/science/2011/06/cheap-hydrogen-production-from-water-using-cobalt-catalyst/ The issue, per the author, is "As a proof-of-conce...

Interestingly, the reaction below may be able to form Zinc oxychloride cement mixtures with a pH of 5.48 upon dilution: Na2[Zn(OH)4] + 4 HCl = ZnCl2 + 2 NaCl + 4 H2O Here is a reference: "Suggested Chemistry of Zinc Oxychloride Cements" by Charles A. Sorrell. Abstract: "Solutions of Z...

The only issue I have with H2 based cars is the large explosion range for air/H2 mixture. This means if your Hydrogen car leaks odorless H2 (which is notoriously hard to confine), and your car is parked inside your house, you can lose more than just your car. Sleep on that. -------------------------...

Thanks for explaining the meaning of life. Would you please excuse me now, I need to take several deep breaths, just doing my job of hydrogenating. But wait, that's not the definition hydrogenating (something about forming more dense fats). So that's it! The meaning of life is eating, and to think I...
