balancing an equation/homework

Post by Derinda »

I am having trouble balancing this equation Fe(OH)3+H2SO4=Fe(SO4)3+H2O. The online balancer says there is an error, but I don't have a clue as to what it could be!!

the problem is one of the products bcuz (SO4)-2 ion and Fe(3+)ions when react they make Fe2(SO4)3 not Fe(SO4)3 ; after criss-crossing the charges.. so your final reaction would beeee...

2 Fe(OH)3 + 3 H2SO4 = Fe2(SO4)3 + 6 H2O

hope that helps..
