Help with: Chemical reaction equations

Post by t1 »

Trying to solve an equation that's giving me a good bit of confusion. When I told my lab TA that I didn't understand what was expected in some of these equations, he actually told me to "just look it up on the internet". Anyways, the one I'm having the most trouble with is:

_Al(s) + 6NaOH (aq) + _H2O (l) = ____________________

Does this result in AlOH and H+ being created? Or simply more NaOH and some H+?

Any help is much appreciated, thank you.

Here is the balanced equation:

Code: Select all

2 Al(s) + 2 NaOH(aq) + 6 H2O(l) = 2 Na[Al(OH)4](aq) + 3 H2(g)
