I need to find the theorectical yield of 3-Nonenoic acid from combining Heptanal and malonic acid. The problems is how do I get a balanced equation?? I have C3H4O4 + C7H14O = C9H16O2. Any help is greatly appreciated! ASAP!
Also, CO2 and H2O are products as well. I still can't get a balanced equation so I can solve the issue of the theoretical yield. Please help.
Please help!!!

The reaction goes via condensation and subsequent decarboxylation, so H2O and CO2 are in the products
