Depends on the ratio and concentration of reagents the reduction of KMnO4 can go to MnO2 or to K2MnO4
2 KMnO4 + 3 K2SO3 + H2O = 3 K2SO4 + 2 MnO2 + 2 KOH
2 KMnO4 + K2SO3 + H2O = 2 K2MnO4 + H2SO4

pH will change (increase or decrease depends on the ratio), and without specific buffer you can't expect clear path and clean outcome.
Remember safety first! Check MSDS and consult with professionals before performing risky experiments.
