balancing equation

I am trying to balance this equation and this is ALL the book tells us: CO2 + HCl. Maybe I am missing the boat but can anyone help please??

Yes, you are missing the boat because CO2 and HCl are apparently the products of a reaction, not reactants. CO2 and HCl simply do not react.
Remember safety first! Check MSDS and consult with professionals before performing risky experiments.
