How is this called?!

Post by Evaldas »

Hi!
Ok, I need to know how is this called so I could learn how to do it, it has something to do with electrons, and how much of them one element gives to other. For example here's a balanced equation with oxidation states (I marked that thing that I don't know how is called in red ;) ):

How do I know that Fe gives 6electrons to Cl?
And can someone give me links for tutorials for this thing?
